WHO WE ARE
Two cultures. One community. A place to connect.
The Korean and Black Association of Central Virginia (KABA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cultural organization creating opportunities for our community to experience, learn about, and celebrate Korean and Black culture.
Through education, the arts, cultural experiences, and community events, we create welcoming spaces for people to connect with culture, discover something new, and build community.
And while our name celebrates Korean and Black culture, KABA is for everyone. Whether you are reconnecting with your heritage, exploring a culture different from your own, or simply looking for meaningful ways to connect with others, there is a place for you here.
WHY KABA?
Because culture is meant to be experienced.
Culture lives in the food we prepare, the music we listen to, the stories we tell, the traditions we carry, the languages we speak, the art we create, and the people we gather with.
KABA was created to provide opportunities for people throughout Central Virginia to experience Korean and Black culture beyond the surface—to learn, participate, celebrate, and connect.
We believe some of the most meaningful cultural experiences happen when people have an opportunity to do more than observe.
